Weather on Crete

Crete has excellent weather all year round. Crete's summers are dry and hot with temperatures sometimes exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, Spring and Autumn are mostly dry and on average slightly less hot than the Summer period, while its Winters are very pleasant, usually with little rain and often with dry, bright warm days even during December and January.

The climate varies between the lowland coastal areas and the mountainous regions and this is especially noticeable during the Winter, when the mountains can experience heavy rain or snow, while the coasts will still be bathed in bright warm sunshine.

Spring starts early and Winter's are short. Whether you want Summer sunshine, high temperatures and blue skies, splendidly colourful sunsets, or magnificent Winter snowscapes in the mountains, Crete's climate will not disappoint you.

Crete's climate makes it an ideal location for a holiday or short break at any time of the year. Crete's winter climate is very mild and makes it a popular destination for winter long stays.
